The story off a fabulous car starts here! The Opel Calibra.

1989
On theFrankfurt Motor Show, Opel presents a new coupe. Those who where able to get a glimp of this car tell a surprising story.
They are talking about a ar never seen before, Elegance but with plenty of space. This all with moderne technics en for a fair price.
A New naam was born... Calibra.

1990
Aerodynamiscal Cars can be beutifull. However Sportscars are almost everytime to low and to small, build for 2 passengers and with hardly any room in the trunk. The Calibra is differant. The coupe is slim, but has enough room for 4 adults and 300 litres of bagage. the key off the succes of the Calibra is the "fun + function" factor, This was the reason that there where sold over 29,431 Calibra's in the first production year.

1991
The Calibra rising high above everybodies expectations.
Demands for the car are higher than the production capacity of Opel. A record number of 67,443 cars where p[roduced in 1991. In stead of enjoying off the succes of this Calibra, the Opel staff is further developing aspects off this car. The Opel technisians use there magic manage to turn the Calibra into a strong symbol for Opel. The Calibra Turbo has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 150 KW (204 pk), six gear ratio and four wheel drive. With the 245-km/h-coupe Opel is flirting with a market segment that was only reachable for exotical sportscars like Ferrari and Lambourghini.

1993
The classical design of the Calibra inspires the indidualist. Opel designers reaches out to these people by introducing the so called "Color Edition", a special version of the coupe in unusual colors
The interiour is being restyled with a new and refreshing appearance and luxurious leather. A set of new alloy wheels is being designed for this car also.
Although The car is seen a lot lately It nver bores anyone.

1994
In production year number five The Calibra family is being expanded. Opel's first V6 engine appears in coupe land. The torquey 2.5-litre V6 delivers excelant performance, with its 125 KW (170 hp) the Calibra goes from 0 to100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. The V6 Also opens the era of the less poluting ECOTEC power engines, with a new 100 KW (136 hp) 2.0 16V based engine it replaces the 85 KW (115 pk) 8V version.

1994
While competitors react with simular Coupe variants to the Calibra, and the market is starting to get a bit full Opel reacts with a new astonisching coupe.
The baby brother of the Calibra is born.The Tigra as it is named is introduced in October 1994 and is welkomed entousiastic by Opel customers.
In the first year of production over 68,000 Tigras are sold.

1996
With its aproaching retirement The Calibra poves its strengt by becoming sports champion. The new 500 hp Strong 4x4 V6 Engine provides Calibra nine victories in the German touring Championship (DTM). At the end of this racing seison, Manuel Reuter is the Champion driver and Opel the champion factory. Is there any beter way to say goodbuy?

1997
Even the most beutifull and succesfull cars are taken out off production at some moment. For the Calibra hat moment was in 1997. At this moment the production was 238,647 in total. This again indicates the huge popularity of this design, Opel even had to start extra production in Finland in 1991 to comply to the huge requests for this car.
Long before production stoppedin the summer of 1997 it had become clear that the elegant design of Erhard Schnell had become a Classic

1997
The end of the Calibra, but the start of a new coupe for Opel.
With the Tigra a compact 2+2 Coupe Opel continues to offer a unique concept. The Tigra has a prise winnig style and design. Also it has enough variable space to use. This all for a very mild price
It is already Clear that also the tigra is gonna take a place in car history.
